Meet Mortch.
Meet the human.
Mortch is the illustrated face of the publication. I’m Mitch, the person behind the keyboard, the hardware, and the guides.
A homelab with a purpose.
I’m a hardware-obsessed homelab builder in California. My setup mixes a Windows workstation, an always-on Ubuntu server, and a Windows machine with two Intel GPUs. It’s a useful place to explore the friction between “supported” and “working on this machine.”
This publication is where I turn that work into practical guides. The goal is one flagship written guide each week, with a public copy here and an editorial home on Ghost. Read the first guide.
Mortch does the smiling.
The character gives the project a face. He can look cheerful while I work through driver versions, model paths, and a context window that was a little too ambitious.
The writing comes from me. I want you to understand what a configuration does, why I chose it, and which parts still need verification.
Numbers over adjectives.
A card’s rated memory is a specification. A model’s memory footprint is something to measure. A working endpoint is the beginning of a test, not the end.
You’ll find commands, assumptions, and limits here. When I don’t have a result, I’ll say so. When something is still an experiment, I’ll label it that way.
